Howdy partner, we're glad you dropped by. We are Oregon's largest full service fly shop, east of the Cascade Crest, conveniently located in Pendleton, at the base of the Blue Mountains halfway between Portland, OR (3 hours drive) and Boise, ID. Walking from the front door of our shop, across our parking lot, we fish the Umatilla River for Pacific Northwest steelhead, trout, and salmon. You do not have to fly to Alaska, and stand in a hog line to catch large Pacific Ocean running fish! You can drive out to eastern Oregon, enjoy our almost everyday sunshine weather, scenery, our wide open spaces, clean air, and the kind of fishing you will find by browsing this website. Welcome to the "Real West" where the fish grow to be as long as your leg, and we have plenty of them. You will see here why, in eastern Oregon we don't consider a 24" trout a trophy...

You can see from our photos why we don't consider a 24 inch fish a "trophy" in northeast Oregon. Would you like to come fish with us? We catch a lot of fish over 30" in our home waters...

Are you interested in fishing trout, steelhead, salmon, smallmouth or largemouth bass? Would you prefer fishing shad, carp, crappie, northern pikeminnow, whitefish....all on a fly rod. Or would you interested in fishing for 10 + foot tail walking white sturgeon, or trophy walleye in our eastern Oregon waters. Well this and more is what we have to offer in fishing opportunity within 45 minutes of Blue Mountain Anglers front door. You need not leave the lower 48, to catch trophy trout, steelhead, salmon. We invite you to leave the maddening herds to our east and Central Oregon, come up to the mountains or the mighty Columbia River, and fish with us. Nowhere else in Oregon offers the diversity and abundance of fishing like our Northeast Zone, without a crowd of people in sight.

We don't know of another fly shop west of the Mississippi that you can catch 8 to 20+ pound Pacific Ocean running steelhead and salmon by stepping out of their front door and walking over to the nearest river. At Blue Mountain Anglers and Fly Shop we do! We are only two double haul casts distance from the Umatilla River.

Our spring Chinook "Springers" are coming on strong.
Looking for a big JERK on you rod... showup in N.E. Oregon
if you want the kick of your salmon bank fishing career.

This Elkhorn lake we fish, many times in solitude at a cool 7100' elevation.
Yes, you will not have this kind of solitude or fishing in central Oregon.
Best flies to use here are BMA's Elkhorn Lake Specials,

Fishing in Eastern Oregon...

Spring Chinook

Summer Steelhead

Fall Steelhead

Where are you fishing in 2006? Have you thought about moving up from small trout fishing, of the Rockies and central Oregon to ten + pound steelhead or 12 + pound salmon fishing... on the fly in eastern Oregon? Are the wilderness areas you are fishing in filling up with bipeds? You need not fly to Alaska, or settle for the smaller fish found to our east... drive out to Oregon, why not fish the "Real West"?

Check our fishing report page and it's links for the most current flow reports. Many of our Umatilla steelhead are like the ones here... 30" of fight and kickass fun. One of the best flies to use for Umatilla/ eastern Oregon steelhead is BMA's #2 eggsucking leech.

Our Umatilla River steelhead season usually runs from mid September through April 15th depending on water flows at Umatilla, then our spring Chinook season opens on April 16th. The fall/ winter steelies, are showing up in the Umatilla now, click here if you want to keep up with this 2006 anadromous fish runs for Pendleton.

Here we have wide open spaces, peace, quite and great for fishing solo or with your fishing buddy.

You may have seen the rest, come join us and enjoy the best of the Oregon Territory fishing experience, in wide open fly fishing country. This is what fly fishing is all about, you, your rod, the fish, and no crowds.
